Challenges & returning to Winning Ways

A team that has either never performed as intended, or has been in decline for some time is likely to have a few internal challenges that will need to be overcome for it to move forward to either begin performing or to return to its previous effectiveness. These challenges can be either because of the way things are done, because of who is doing them or a combination of the two.

Either way, here are a few examples of the sort of things that are barriers to effective team performance and that will need to be eradicated for the team to move on:

  1. Fear of confronting the issues at hand
  2. Fear of giving appropriate feedback to colleagues at all levels
  3. Political positioning
  4. Hidden agendas
  5. Decisions taken in the "meeting after the meeting"
  6. Bitching and backbiting
  7. Poor planning
  8. Poor timekeeping
  9. Low professional standards
  10. Much talk and little action
