Issues that Impact Team Effectiveness

There are many factors that can affect the performance of even the most effective teams and the one consistent feature of all of these factors is change. When a team that has performed, met its targets and thrived in its operating environment starts to become less effective then something has changed. Externally a poor or inappropriate response to the fluidity of the marketplace can result in a decline in performance but often a failure to respond and adjust to an internal change can be just as challenging.


Some of these internal changes can include:
  • A change in team structure and format
  • The departure and/or replacement of a key team member
  • A change in team leadership
  • A change in team responsibilities
  • The division or amalgamation of a team or teams
  • Business transition (new products, new markets, new infrastructure)
