Case Study 2 - I've Been Passed Over Because I Need To Improve My Interpersonal Skills

Context: A senior executive in a large company in the financial sector who had been passed over for the promotion they wanted. The executive was technically very competent and had been passed over for promotion because of the need to improve and broaden their interpersonal skills.

Coaching Outcome: To improve the interpersonal skills and state management skills of the manager to a level that would meet the criteria for promotion.


The Coaching Relationship: We worked together monthly for a period of 6 months. My primary focus was to develop a relationship of trust and model the key skills they wanted to develop. I also used a variety of models to support their transition including NLP. With permission from the client, I met with their line manager and subordinates to gather additional feedback.

Outcome: This executive was successfully promoted to a Senior Directors role and is successfully working at that level in the organisation.
